Mike McMahan Announcer

KSQM Volunteer Since 2010

Biography:

His name is Mike McMahan, but we call him “Coach”. Two months after being inducted into the Pacific Northwest Coaches Hall of Fame in November of 2013, McMahan got word he was picked for the AAA Minor League Football Hall of Fame in January of this year.  The honor is considered the highest level of semi-pro football honors in the nation, according to Coach, with several inductees having experience at the National Football League, Canadian Football League and Division I college levels.

“I was shocked — that’s a pretty big national thing,” Coach said. “It was a huge honor.”

Coach played quarterback in the Northwest Football League for 15 years for teams like the Eastside Express, which went 16-0 and won the league title, and the Federal Way Jets, where he was part of two more championships. He then coached semi-pro football with former Seattle Seahawks great Eddie McMillan as a defensive assistant with the Vikings, then moved to the Olympic Peninsula and was the offensive coordinator of the Olympic Peninsula Eagles of the Cascade Football League.

McMahan has been a KSQM Announcer since 2010, and hosts “Coach Mac” every Tuesday evening from 6-9PM.
