County Amy Lynn: "I retired to Sequim in 2017 from Southern California. I've spent most of my time working in the construction field. My dad was an announcer for Armed Forces Radio and that's where I got my love for radio. I love country and bluegrass music. On a side note, I also have a passion for trains and moose. My husband, Papa Jim, and I have known each other since age 10. We have 2 beautiful daughters and 4 grandchildren. I totally love volunteering at KSQM. It was so much fun to be involved with helping to create the beautiful facility that we are in now and also working as an announcer with wonderful people. I look forward to entertaining you in a country/bluegrass way."

Douglas Furr

Douglas Furr
Host, Notes by Northwest

Douglas is a “boomerang” Washingtonian, having lived in Issaquah, just east of Seattle, 20 years ago, and a recent transplant to Sunny Sequim.  He started his journalism career in high school and gives credit to his 10th grade English teacher for the love of the word (despite the fact she forced her students to read Faulkner).   He wrote for the high school newspaper, was on staff of the Daily Texan, the student newspaper of the University of Texas, and has spent his career in advertising, marketing and business consulting roles for national and international companies, including as COO of one firm.

He has been the editor of a national professional organization magazine, the executive producer of two business programs on television, on the advisory board of a large metro area public radio station, and a contributor to public broadcasting his entire adult life.  Today he’s also a regular columnist for national professional services magazine.

Douglas’ love of music and the radio goes back to his early youth, where he and his father would listen to the radio on long car trips.   He passed on a similar love of music to his eldest son, who could name all the Beatles and the Rolling Stones by the time he was 5, thanks to FM radio.

Today that son, the clever one, is a musician and producer in Los Angeles.

His other son, the smart one, attends college out of state but expects to do his graduate work at the University of Washington.

And sorry ladies, Douglas has been happily married for more than 25 years.

The variety of music on Notes by Northwest reflects Douglas’ love of the region and an eclectic taste in music including early rock, blues, country roots, alternative rock, and modern rock.

That’s the spectrum you’ll hear on NOTES by NORTHWEST, every Thursday at 6PM (Pacific Northwest Time).

JAZZY JEAN is heard on KSQM every Saturday afternoon from Noon to Three, Pacific Time.

JP was born and raised in Hicksville New York and after a short 45 year detour in California, move to Sequim in 2025. His only regret is that his wife didn’t want to move sooner.

Sir Andrew
6:00PM - 7:00PM Wed
7:00PM - 8:00PM Wed
8:00PM - 9:00PM Wed

Sir Andrew comes well-traveled to the KSQM volunteer family since April 2018 by way of a homestead just west of Port Angeles. His family has also resided in Sequim and Carlsborg prior to building that dream. Both of his parents retired in Sequim in 2003 from Wyoming.

Andrew is a protected 22-year veteran US Navy Sailor (like his father was), now retired, and a former professional guard with Homeland Security. He was born in Los Angeles, raised at first in the warm Orange County suburbs, but learned the country life through rural living, growing up on a 12-acre ranch in Sheridan County, Wyoming. His wife and family have immediate roots in Montana.

This announcer has been lucky to find microphones to work with at several points during a diverse career path that includes actual commercial experience in country and rock radio starting at age 17, plus volunteer time at Armed Forces Radio. When stateside, he developed a taste for karaoke that grew into hosting at karaoke bars, even while serving his country and the public.

As a Sailor, his data communications specialty sent him literally around the world, serving on surface and air platforms as well as remote and sensitive sites on bases both large and isolated. He also served as a civilian armed guard at Fort Lewis, and in three different states guarding federal property with FPS including Washington. He is predictably compassionate about other veterans, and will likely get trivia questions about geography right.

Andrew personally owns over 3500 CD albums and dabbles in writing creative lyrics and poetry, which all blends into every show he hosts. He is also a fantasy football and general sports enthusiast, and secured eight chess tournament trophies while in naval service. Apparently his mother was a competitive soul.

If you come visit the KSQM studios, don’t expect gregarious Andrew to just hide in the booth. And if you were expecting a one-liner or Dad joke on this short bio, he just surprised you again. Guess you’ll have to check his shows out to catch the humor and insight – and who wants to see the same predictable joke on a website all the time??
